Presidential Election 2022: Elected MLAs from across the country will vote for the presidential election on Monday. In India, the President is elected by Electoral College.

That is, the people do not directly elect their president, but the people elected by their vote do. In this election, the elected members of the Legislative Assemblies of all the states and elected MPs in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha cast their votes.

Nominated members cannot vote in Parliament on behalf of the President. At the same time, the members of the Legislative Councils of the states also do not have the right to vote, because they are not the members elected by the people. MLAs participate in this voting. The value of vote of the MLA of each state is different.

State Wise Status of Value of MLAs –

As the MLAs of Uttar Pradesh have the highest vote value, the MLAs of Sikkim have the lowest vote value. At the same time, the vote value of MPs is 700 more than the value of MLAs. The vote value of each of the 403 MLAs of Uttar Pradesh is 208, that is, their total value is 83,824. The vote value of each MLA of Tamil Nadu and Jharkhand is 176.

The value of the MLA of Maharashtra is 175, that of Bihar is 173 and the vote value of each MLA of Andhra Pradesh is 159. Similarly, the total vote value of the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly is 41,184.

At the same time, the total vote value of the 81-member Jharkhand Assembly is 14,256. The total vote value of 288 MLAs of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly is 50,400 and that of 243 members of Bihar Legislative Assembly is 42,039.

At the same time, the total vote value of the 175-member Andhra Pradesh Assembly is 27,825.

The vote value of an MLA is counted on the basis of the total population of that state according to the 1971 census. In smaller states, the vote value of each Sikkim legislator is seven. After this, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram have eight votes each, Nagaland nine, Meghalaya 17, Manipur 18 and Goa 20. The vote value of an MLA of Union Territory of Puducherry is 16.

Total vote value of 72 members in Sikkim is 224, Mizoram Legislative Assembly of 40 has a vote value of 320, Arunachal Pradesh has a vote value of 480, a 60-member Nagaland has a vote value of 540, a Meghalaya has a 60-member vote value 1,020, Manipur Vote value of 60 members of the Legislative Assembly 1,080 and 40-member GoaThe vote value of the assembly is 800.

Value of vote of MPs reduced

At the same time, the vote value of a Member of Parliament has been reduced from 708 to 700 as there is no Legislative Assembly in Jammu and Kashmir. The vote value of an MP in the presidential election is decided on the basis of the number of members elected in the state legislatures and union territories including Delhi, Puducherry and Jammu and Kashmir.

The electoral college for the Presidential election consists of members of the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and members of the states and union territories.

The Jammu and Kashmir state assembly had 83 seats before it was bifurcated into the two union territories of Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir in August 2019.

According to the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir will have a Legislative Assembly while Ladakh will be ruled by the Central Government.
