Pune Railway Division modernisation plan; high tech robots to perform critical tasks, all details here

Pune: The Pune railway division will soon be a high-tech operation with robots handling crucial duties like calculating the weight of packages and inspecting and spotting track issues. The major duties that were before carried out manually will soon be undertaken by machines with razor-sharp precision thanks to technological innovation.
In a significant breakthrough for the Pune railway division, the railway boards have given the go-ahead to two cutting-edge startups, Mechanica System and Combat Robotics, to deploy cutting-edge technology that promises to alter the way work is done.

Track safety inspecting robots in Pune

An inspection robot for railway lines is about to be unveiled by Combat Robotics. These smart robots, which are fitted with cutting-edge sensors, can detect and geotag even the smallest track issues. Instant alerts will be sent to real-time operators, allowing them to take immediate action. The manual track inspection process is about to undergo a revolution thanks to this ground-breaking design’s amazing 100-kilometre range. This enormous project, which is expected to take about a year to complete, has been given a sizable budget from the railway boards of Rs. 1.48 crore. Following completion, an amazing display will highlight the robot’s talents, notably its singular capacity to gauge the density of stones on the rails.

Load calculation tech

The goal of the Mechanica System is to create a sensor-based load computation system that will precisely calculate the weight of the packages carried on trains. The effectiveness of this tool will be crucial in ensuring that rail workers load cargo within the specified capacity limitations. This technology will improve safety measures in addition to preventing train derailments thanks to a substantial grant of Rs 1.5 crore from the railway boards. Within two months, the project will begin testing, during which any uneven train loading will be identified and remedied.
