Punjab News: – In a significant step towards empowering the families of Indian Army personnel, the Punjab Skill Development Mission (PSDM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Army’s Panther Division in Amritsar. This initiative aims to provide free skill and vocational training to war widows, families of Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs), defence employees, and youth from border areas.
First Phase to Train 240 Dependents
Under this initiative, the first phase will focus on training 240 dependents of both serving and retired Army personnel. The training programs are designed to equip participants with essential skills that can enhance their employability and support their families’ livelihoods. By offering these opportunities, PSDM and the Indian Army seek to ensure that the dependents of those who serve the nation are given the tools and resources to build sustainable careers.
Targeting Vulnerable Groups
This collaboration specifically targets vulnerable groups, including war widows and families residing in border areas, who often face significant challenges in accessing education and employment opportunities. By providing free vocational training, the program aims to bridge this gap and empower these individuals to secure stable and rewarding jobs.
Strengthening Ties Between Defence Forces and Civil Society
The MoU between PSDM and the Indian Army’s Panther Division not only enhances the skill sets of beneficiaries but also strengthens the bond between the defence forces and civil society. This partnership underscores the commitment of both institutions to the welfare of those who have dedicated their lives to serving the country.
Long-Term Impact
The success of this initiative in its first phase could pave the way for further expansion, potentially benefiting more families and youth from border areas in the future. The skills acquired through this program are expected to open up new career opportunities, contributing to the economic development of these communities and supporting the ongoing efforts to uplift the socio-economic status of defence families.
This MoU marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to provide meaningful support to the families of Army personnel, ensuring they have access to the resources needed to thrive in civilian life.
