Addressing the media, Rahul Gandhi claimed that Amit Shah was either directly responsible for the police response or failed to prevent it. He argued that, in either case, the Home Minister should be held accountable and asked the Prime Minister to dismiss him from the Cabinet.
Repeats Allegation Over Student Protest Crackdown
The Congress leader also called for a Supreme Court-monitored investigation into the alleged use of force during protests linked to the NEET paper leak controversy. Gandhi maintained that students exercising their democratic right to protest should not face excessive police action and demanded accountability from the authorities.
Rahul Gandhi reiterated his earlier allegation that security personnel used disproportionate force against demonstrators, while the Central government rejected the accusation. Government representatives stated that no firing took place and maintained that only lawful crowd-control measures, including tear gas, were used. The Centre also demanded an apology from Gandhi for his remarks, describing his allegations as misleading.
The issue triggered sharp political exchanges in Parliament, with opposition parties pressing the government for answers over the handling of student demonstrations. The controversy has added to the ongoing debate surrounding the NEET examination issue and the response of law enforcement agencies.
