Rs 10 crore given to pregnant women in Punjab

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has given a big gift to women. CM Mann-led state government has allocated an amount of Rs 10.40 crore to improve the nutritional and health status of pregnant women and lactating mothers. Giving more details in this regard, Minister of Social Security, Women and Child Development, Dr. Baljit Kaur said that the government is continuously working to improve the health condition of women. Under this scheme, 10.40 crores have been distributed to a total of 60912 women beneficiaries in the state during the current financial year.

She said that the government has reserved a total budget of Rs 36.60 crore for this scheme. Doctor. Baljit Kaur further said that Rs 5000/- (Rs 1000+2000+2000) is given by the government to the women of 19 years and above on the birth of their first live child in 3 installments. Under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, it is given to pregnant women and lactating mothers to improve their nutritional and health status, subject to fulfillment of special conditions.

Doctor. Baljit Kaur said that under this scheme a benefit of Rs 5000 was given in the first 3 installments, which after April 2022 would be given to women from socially and economically backward sections of the society under maternity benefit of Rs 5 thousand in 2 installments that is 3000/- first installment on registration of pregnancy and RsLMP in W.C. State/UT within 6 months from the date of Check-up of health facilities and second installment Rs.2000 through Registration of Birth of Child, BCG, OPV, DPT. and Hepatitis-B or its equivalent on receiving the first dose.

The minister said that the financial assistance is paid directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries, which have been linked with Aadhaar.
