Israel:Three Israeli soldiers killed near Egyptian border: Gunmen kills three Israeli troops near border with Egypt. The troops were attacked by a man dressed in an Egyptian security forces uniform. The incident took place during operations against drug smugglers in the Naqab desert. This was the first deadly exchange in more than a decade. The Israeli military said that an Egyptian Policemen shot dead two soldiers while they secured a military post at the Egyptian border. It also that the Egyptian officer and a third Israeli soldier were killed in a confrontation inside Israeli territory.
Egyptian Military issues statement
Israel says it will probe the 1967 mass grave of Egyptian soldiers. Egypt’s Defence Minister Mohammad zaki spoke with his Israeli counterpart and discussed about the shooting on the border. The Egyptian military issued a statement and said that the mutual coordination to take measures to prevent such incidents in the future. The Egyptian Minister also offered condolences for the dead Israeli troops. The Israeli army said that one of the killed soldiers was a woman. The other injured soldier was taken to the hospital. Israeli Defence Minister said that he conducted a situational assessment with the chief of Staff and the military will investigate the event as required.
Both Countries agreed to work together
Israeli Military said that it was unclear how the Egyptian officer crossed the border fence and soldiers were searching the area to rule out additional assailants. The fence was to stop the entry of African refugees and migrants and armed fighters linked to ISIS who are active in Egypt’s Sinai desert. Egypt was the first arab country to sign a peace treaty with Israel in 1979 and maintain close security ties. Fighting along their shared border is rare. Israeli Defence Minister said on twitter that Egypt and Israel Defence Ministers have agreed to work together to prevent attacks along their shared border following the incident.
