UP Gang Used 100 Apps To Extort Rs 500 Crore

Delhi Police’s Special Cell IFSO Unit has unearthed a blackmailer gang whose strings are linked to China. Not only this, the strings of this gang are also said to be connected with Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh.

22 accused have been arrested in this case, from whom 9 laptops, 25 hard disks and 51 mobile phones have been recovered.

This gang preys on people who need small loans. These accused ask their victim to download an application. As soon as the user downloads the application in the greed of loans available at affordable rates. The accused gain full access to their victim’s phone.

After this, his private pictures and the rest of the data are stolen from the victim’s phone. This data is sent to servers in China and Hong Kong. Then the game of blackmailing begins. The amount is recovered from the user by sending him morphed pictures.

The involvement of Chinese citizens in this work has also been identified by the Special Cell, who call the call center blackmailing, that call comes from the call centers of Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh. The special cell has come to know that more than 100 such apps were working. So far 22 accused have been arrested in the case.

The Special Cell also says that further action is being taken in respect of Chinese citizens as well. The money route used to send money to China is that of hawala and crypto currency.

Notably UP Gang used 100 loan apps to extort ₹ 500 Crore.

The Special Cell of Delhi Police has released a list of some apps. These apps are sending your data to China. This app preys on those people who need a loan of less money.

These apps are downloaded to your phone by promising to give loans without interest, and after that all your data is stolen and sent to China. Citizens of China are also involved in this work.
