Vinto GS 525: Chinese knockoff of the BMW GS 1250, all you should know

Vinto GS 525: The BMW R 1250 GS, BMW’s current flagship ADV model, has long been associated with the GS label, which it first used to denote off-road vehicles. The bike and the name, however, were both replicated by a lesser-known Chinese bike manufacturer called Vinto Motors.

Vinto GS 525

With its 21-litre fuel tank and gold-rimmed tubeless 19- and 17-inch wire-spoke wheels, the Vinto GS 525, also known as the GS 525, is comparable in appearance to the BMW R 1250 GS when viewed from the side. It’s a bummer, in our opinion, as the ‘GS’ decal on the tank resembles the one on the BMW bike in an uncomfortably close way. The headlight, which is flanked by two slanting LED DRLs, is similar to the one on the Honda CB500X as you move to the front, dispelling any GS presumptions that you may have had.

Features

a good selection of features is offered, including a 7-inch TFT console that supports smartphones and provides navigation and USB charging. Auxiliary lighting and hard case panniers are optional additions, but metal crash protection is available right out of the factory.

Specifications

A parallel twin, naturally based on the one from the Honda CB500X, replaces the BMW “boxer” twin on the Vinto. The Loncin engine has a 494cc displacement and is rated at 53.8 PS, according to the manufacturer. The Vinto GS might not have as great of a performance edge over the CB as one might anticipate.

Availability and Price in India

However, considering that Vinto is a completely unknown brand and that the Vinto GS525 costs 35,980 yuan, or around Rs 4.37 lakh, without taxes, it seems unlikely that the Vinto GS525 would ever be sold in India.
