CM Yogi Adityanath Govt to Distribute Subsidy Under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana for 1.86 Crore Families

CM Yogi Adityanath: The Uttar Pradesh government has announced that subsidy support for LPG cylinder refills will be distributed to 1.86 crore beneficiary families under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, backed by a financial outlay of ₹1,500 crore.

According to an official post by the state government, the initiative is being implemented under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Authorities said the move is aimed at strengthening convenience, safety and dignity for women beneficiaries by ensuring continued access to clean cooking fuel.

Objective of the Scheme

Officials highlighted that the Ujjwala programme has played a key role in reducing dependence on traditional fuels such as wood and coal, thereby lowering indoor air pollution and improving household health conditions. The additional subsidy support is intended to make LPG refills more affordable for low-income households.

Festival-Linked Relief

The government noted that the assistance is being provided ahead of the Holi festival, describing it as a measure to enhance household welfare and support family finances during the festive period.

Event Details

The official distribution programme is scheduled for February 28, 2026, at 4:00 pm at Lok Bhavan, where beneficiaries will be formally addressed and the subsidy rollout launched.

Observers say the move reflects continued emphasis by the state administration on welfare initiatives targeted at women and economically weaker households. Officials added that such programmes are designed to promote cleaner energy adoption while easing financial burdens on vulnerable sections of society.
