Galgotias University: The recent Robodog scandal of the Greater Noida University at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 is not an isolated one. According to media reports, the house of Chairman Suneel Galgotia was raided on October 14, 2014 leading to the arrest of his wife Padmini and son Dhruv. This was on account on default on loan repayments and alleged forgery, totalling over Rs. 100 crore.
Galgotias University-The Case History
In September 2014, a case was registered by SE Investments Limited in Agra’s Hari Parwat Police Station. Suneel managed to get a stay from arrest from the Allahabad High Court after the Uttar Pradesh Police acted on the orders of Sri Khaliquzzama of Agra who ordered that Padmini and Dhruv should be placed on a remand of 14 days.

The complainant alleged that owners of an organization run and managed by Suneel by the name of Shakuntala Education and Welfare Society had taken several loans from them. It was also alleged that the owners default on multiple loan installments despite being served several reminders. The complainant had presented a series of fake documents to get loans, including fake balance sheets.
It was revealed during the investigation that Suneel Galgotia had taken 10 loans in 2 years from SE Finance Limited, ranging between Rs. 80 lakh and Rs. 37 crore. The total liability of Shakuntala Education and Welfare Society inclusive of interest was Rs. 120 crore.
Police Reaction
SSP Shalabh Mathur had then remarked that the Galgotias were under a legal obligation to return the loan amount in 24 installments but they stopped making the loan repayments after paying just a few installments.
Sunil Agarwal, Managing Director of SE Investment Limited, remarked that an application was made in the Delhi High Court by the owners of Shakuntala Education and Welfare Society that their educational institution was facing a severe loss. Agarwal claimed that the case was merely not just to recover the loan amount but also the forgery committed by the owners of Shakuntala Education and Welfare Society to avail loans.
