Agneepath Scheme: If the youth returns in three years, they will not get married

Agneepath Scheme: Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik on Sunday opposed the new Agneepath scheme for army recruitment, saying the government should reconsider it. Malik said that the jawan will take six months of training, six months leave and when they will return home after working for three years, they will not even get married. Malik had reached Khekra on Sunday to offer condolences at his friend Gaje Singh Dhama who died recently. Here he expressed his opposition to the Agneepath scheme of the government.

Governor Malik said that the Agneepath scheme is against the jawans, it is a betrayal of their hopes. He said that earlier he had spoken about the farmers and now he is talking about the soldiers.

What did Malik say about the post-retirement plan?

Responding to a question post-retirement plans, he said, “I do not intend to do politics and contest elections. Wherever there is a need for farmers and jawans, I will fight.” Malik said that he will also write a book on Kashmir. When asked whether after retiring, he would openly lead the movement against the central government? Malik said, “It is not a matter of opposition to the government, if the issue I am raising is accepted, then it will be a matter of government’s side.”
