Delhi University: On Friday, the Delhi University’s Executive Council (EC) approved plans to allow PhD admissions for the academic year 2023–2024 based on the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) 2023, according to officials with knowledge of the matter. The EC also announced three new B.Tech programmes and a four-year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) course as a pilot project.
Curriculum Changes and Introduction of MA in Hindu Studies Approved by Delhi University’s Council
The university’s governing body, the council, also authorised a number of changes to the curriculum, including the removal of a reading on the poet Muhammad Iqbal and the addition of VD Savarkar to the Political Science curriculum in the fourth semester, according to the statement. The Academic Council (AC) gave its approval to the amendments on May 26. Additionally, a Master of Arts (MA) curriculum in Hindu studies will be introduced, they said. Undoubtedly, the test for PHD programmes has not yet been announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA), which administers CUET. CUET results are currently used as the basis for admission to undergraduate and graduate programmes at all central universities.

PhD Admissions through Common University Entrance Test (CUET) Awaited
The PhD admission exam, whenever it is made public, will be used as the foundation for evaluating potential applicants, according to EC members. “CUET PhD admittance has not yet been made public. Although the university and NTA have spoken, the test will shortly be announced. The remaining steps of the process, such as the interviews, won’t change, according to Seema Das, an EC member present at the council meeting on Friday. NTA will shortly hold CUET (PhD) for applicants in three universities, including DU, Jawaharlal Nehru University, and Banaras Hindu University, according to DU Registrar Vikas Gupta. Candidates can take the test after they (NTA) officially announce the procedure, he said. NTA representatives did not reply to HT’s questions regarding DU’s request.
Delhi University Approves New Study Facilities and B.Tech Programs
The institution released a statement citing the Executive Council Freedom and Partition study facility, a tribal studies centre, and a Hindu studies centre, all of which have already received approval from the Academic Council. According to the release, the Centre for Hindu Studies will launch a Master of Arts study in Hindu Studies. A total of 360 students will be enrolled in the three new B.Tech programmes that the council recently approved: B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering, B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering, and B.Tech Electrical Engineering. being received. The university gained approval from the ministry of education in April for the creation of 72 teaching positions and 48 non-teaching positions for the new programmes, according to the officials’ comment above. The three courses which will be conducted by the Faculty of Technology.
