EDUCATION: PM Modi said National Education Policy 2020 a means to empower the poor

PM Modi, on Independence Day 2021, has said that the National Education Policy 2020 will be a means to fight poverty in the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Independence Day speech said that the National Education policy 2020 is a means to fight poverty and to meet the needs of the 21st century.

PM Modi also added that the new policy focuses on encouraging teaching regional languages.He also talked about the benefits of NEP 2020 while speaking from the Red Fort in New Delhi on the occasion of India’s 75th Independence Day.

He further said that NEP has a special feature under which sports have been made a part of mainstream education instead of extracurricular activities.Sports are also one of the most effective means to move forward in life,he said.

Highlights Of NEP 2020

The National Education Policy 2020 was passed by the Union CAbinet in July 2020.The first education policy to be passed by the government in the last 34 years.The main aim of NEP 2020 is to completely renovate the education system in India.

As per the NEP 2020, the 10+2 structure of school curricular is to be replaced by a 5+3+3+4 curricular structure corresponding to ages 3-8,8-11,11-14, and 14-18 years.The new system introduced 12 years of schooling with three years of Anganwadi/pre-schooling.
