Galgotias University Shames India On World Stage, “Built From Scratch” And “Make In India” Claims Busted, Social Media Mocks “So-Called India’s Best Private University”

Galgotias University: In one of the most embarrassing goof-ups to rock the Indian stage of Artificial Intelligence, Galgotias University was caught representing a Chinese Orion robodog as its own creation on the first day of the India AI Impact Summit 2026.

Galgotias University: In one of the most embarrassing goof-ups to rock the Indian stage of Artificial Intelligence, Galgotias University was caught representing a Chinese Orion robodog as its own creation on the first day of the India AI Impact Summit 2026. In today’s era when India’s “Make in India” initiative promises home-grown excellence, the university that claims to be India’s Best Private University has delivered a masterclass in national shame and embarrassment.

The irony of this national embarrassment stings. While the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Electronics and IT Minister, pushes hard for self-reliance in electronic vehicles, artificial intelligence and semiconductors, a university “fraudulently” exports an image of excellence built on borrowed bricks.

In a shared video, Professor Neha Singh from Galgotias University could be seen saying to a reporter that “Orion” Robodog was developed at the University’s Centre of Excellence, backed by an investment of about $39 million in artificial intelligence. The claims of Galgotias University that the Orion was built from scratch and a Make in India product were immediately busted as the imported hardware, which matches the Striker V3 ARF model, was presented as indigenous innovation.

Within no time, several Chinese X handles and prominent personalities blasted the “so-called India’s best private university” over its open cheating and fraudulent conduct on a global stage.

Sanket Upadhyay Blasts Galgotias University

Leading journalist Sanket Upadhyay blasted the irresponsible behaviour of Galgotias University.

In a post on X and YouTube, Sanket remarked that the university has shamed the AI struggles and achievements of India in a global AI summit.

The first day’s event was attended by thousands of attendees, including political representatives, startup founders, international delegates and several representatives of global Information Technology firms.

Social Media Reactions On India’s Moment Of Shame & Embarrassment

Leading Political Analyst Tehseen Poonawalla took to X and remarked that Galgotias University had caused a national embarrassment for the country. Poonawala remarked that he remembers playing with the Chinese-made Robodog.

Social media users blasted the University with many users asking for an immediate suspension of its accreditation for bringing worldwide shame for India. Another user commented, “India’s best private university? More like China’s best export hub disguised as a university.” Another user commented, “Galgotias spent ₹500 crore on imports while preaching Atmanirbhar Bharat. Hypocrisy level: Expert.”

Galgotias University Issues Clarification

Galgotias University immediately issued a clarification saying that the product was not built at their university but was merely purchased from China’s Unitree so the university’s students could experiment with it.

It added that students are presently testing the limits of the Robodog and the university would very soon engineer, design and manufacture similar technologies in Viksit Bharat.
