NCERT Decides to Remove Mughal Empire Chapters from Class 12 History Curriculum, UP Implements it

NCERT: The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has changed the Class 12 History curriculum by removing chapters on the Mughal Empire. The syllabus modifications will apply to all boards, including CBSE, UP, and other state boards that use the NCERT curriculum. The revised curriculum will be implemented beginning with the academic year 2023-24.

NCERT has also modified the Class 12 Civics text

The chapters and subjects pertaining to ‘Kings and Chronicles; the Mughal Courts (C. 16th and 17th centuries)’ from the history book ‘Themes of Indian History-Part II’ have been omitted from the updated curriculum. The NCERT has also modified the Class 12 Civics text, deleting chapters like “American Hegemony in World Politics” and “The Cold War Period.” Furthermore, the ‘Politics in India Since Independence’ textbook for Class 12 will no longer cover chapters on the ‘Rise of Popular Movements’ and the ‘Era of One-Party Dominance.’

NCERT has eliminated some chapters

According to the modified curriculum, the NCERT has eliminated chapters such as “Central Islamic countries,” “Confrontation of Cultures,” and “The Industrial Revolution” from the Class 11 textbook “Themes in Global History.” The new NCERT curriculum for Class 10th has omitted chapters from the textbook ‘Democratic Politics-II’ on ‘Democracy and diversity,’ ‘Popular struggles and movement,’ and ‘Challenges to democracy.’

Syllabus is certified by the Uttar Pradesh Board Secretary

The UP Board of Secondary Education (UP Board) has announced that the curriculum for classes 10th, 11th, and 12th, which follow the NCERT curriculum, will be modified to reflect current developments. The rationalised syllabus for Classes 10th, 11th, and 12th has been certified by the Uttar Pradesh Board Secretary, Divyakant Shukla, and the updated UP Board Syllabus 2023-24 will be made accessible on the official website. To reflect the latest revisions, the syllabus for all boards that use the NCERT curriculum will be changed. The books with the streamlined curriculum are now on the market.
