Pakistan: Concerns surrounding the security of the Indian army and educational institutions such as IITs and NITs are being raised by security researchers in India. A Pakistan-based hacker Transparent Tribe, has been actively under scanner of security groups for their relentless cyber attacks against India.
According to Seqrite the enterprise arm of Quick Heal Technologies, the cyber group originated in Pakistan in 2013 and has been targeting the Indian government and military entities.
Targeting of Education Sector
Cybersecurity teams have uncovered a series of targets on education sector by Transparent tribe. Since May 2022, prominent institutes like Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and business schools are the primary target of intensified hacking by the Pak-based group.
The educational institutes have now emerged as main focus of the group activities while attempts at penetrating activities of Indian defense entities have continued to unfold.

Sophisticated attacks on defense organizations
A group called APT36 is utilizes a malicious file titled “Revision of Officers posting policy” to entice officers of the Indian Army. The file is camouflaged as a legitimate document but contains malware that compromises the systems of army.
Similarly a group called SideCopy uses malicious PPAM files diguised as “Officers posting policy revised final.” The files are designed to conceal the presence of malware. SideCopy is a part of Transparent Tribe.
The team has advised adopting regular security measures to keepdata and systems protected against vulnerabilities.
