Punjab: Mohalla clinics in the first budget of AAP government

Punjab: The government has proposed Rs 1,033 crore for medical education, which is 56.6% higher than in FY 2021-22 (RE). The Finance Minister also said that the state government has decided to focus on improving the condition of medical colleges and increasing MBBS seats in these colleges so that students do not have to go to countries like Ukraine. The Finance Minister informed about the new medical college being established in Sangrur with 100 MBBS seats. Its name will be Sant Baba Attar Singh State Institute of Medical Sciences. An initial allocation of Rs 50 crore has been made for this medical institute in the financial year 2022-23.

Mohalla clinics : Rs. 77 Crore

The Finance Minister said that 117 Mohalla and Pind Clinics will be operated by the government this year, for which an initial allocation of Rs 77 crore is being proposed. 75 Mohalla Clinics will be operational by August 15. He said that the people of Punjab irrespective of gender, class, caste, age, religion and geographical conditions will provide last mile health care services.

200 crore has been allocated for libraries

In the first budget proposal of the Aam Aadmi Party, emphasis has also been laid on improving the condition of libraries. Under this, basic facilities will be made available in the libraries of government colleges of 9 districts namely Tarn Taran, Barnala, Ludhiana, Fazilka, Malerkotla, Moga, Pathankot, Muktsar Sahib and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar. For this, Rs 30 crore has been allocated in the financial year 2022-23.
