The big box-office clash between 120 Bahadur and Mastiii 4 was expected to bring some heat to cinemas, but the first week has ended on a disappointing note. Even with a fairly open release window and decent pre-release noise, both films have wrapped up their first seven days without crossing even the Rs 15 crore mark. According to Sacnilk, the numbers stayed flat throughout the week, hinting at weak word-of-mouth and low audience interest.
120 Bahadur Vs Mastiii 4 Box Office Collection Day 7
120 Bahadur opened with a modest Rs 2.25 crore on Friday. For a war drama with scale, a strong ensemble, and emotional appeal, the industry expected a better start. Saturday brought some hope with Rs 3.85 crore, and Sunday added another Rs 4 crore, pushing the opening weekend to around Rs 10.10 crore.
However, the Monday crash changed everything. The film fell to Rs 1.40 crore, almost a 65 per cent dip from Sunday. This decline continued on Tuesday with Rs 1.50 crore. Wednesday saw another drop to Rs 1.10 crore, and early Thursday estimates suggested around Rs 0.90 crore. This brought the total to roughly Rs 15 crore at the end of Week 1 (just about crossing the benchmark but still far below expectations for its genre and star power).
Mastiii 4, the fourth instalment in the adult-comedy franchise, opened a little better but could not maintain any momentum. The film earned Rs 2.75 crore on both Friday and Saturday, followed by Rs 3 crore on Sunday. This took its weekend total to Rs 8.50 crore, which looked fine on paper but was not enough to create a strong base.
Just like 120 Bahadur, the film crashed on Monday with Rs 1.60 crore and stayed flat on Tuesday with the same figure. Wednesday dropped to Rs 1.15 crore, while Thursday is estimated at about Rs 1 crore. With this, the film ended Week 1 at nearly Rs 13.85 crore (underwhelming for a franchise that once enjoyed strong recall value).

Why Both Films Failed
Trade analysts say the problem is weak word-of-mouth. 120 Bahadur appealed at multiplexes but could not reach mass audiences due to its heavy war tone. On the other hand, Mastiii 4 could not rise above its inconsistent humour and outdated approach. Even fans of the original films were not impressed this time, and that reflected in the steady mid-week drop.
With Tere Ishk Mein arriving today, both films will likely see a further dip in footfall. Neither has recovered even half its budget, and recovery looks tough now.
Tax Exemption For 120 Bahadur – But Will It Help?
Amid poor box-office results, 120 Bahadur received a tax-free status in Delhi. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta wrote on X that the film “pays tribute to the extraordinary courage, leadership, and sacrifice of the 120 soldiers of Charlie Company, 13 Kumaon Regiment.”
She added, “The film highlights the inspiring leadership of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati… the Delhi Government has decided to grant tax-free status to the film in Delhi from 28th Nov.”
However, tax exemption may not change its fate. As seen with Vikrant Massey’s The Sabarmati Report, tax-free status does not guarantee box-office success. 120 Bahadur has already lost momentum, and a sudden miracle seems unlikely now.
