Aamir Khan is all set to bring Sitaare Zameen Par to online viewers starting August 1, but there’s a twist. The film will stream on a pay-per-view basis on his official YouTube channel, Aamir Khan Talkies: Janta Ka Theatre, where users will have to pay Rs 100 per view. Unlike regular OTT platforms with monthly plans, this release follows a one-time payment model for each viewing.

This marks a big move by Aamir, who had previously stated there would be no digital release. However, he has now embraced online platforms to reach more people, especially those who can’t access theatres. The strategy aims to use India’s booming digital payment infrastructure to bring cinema to more homes.

Aamir Khan Dreams Of Reaching Every Household

At a press meet, Aamir shared the deeper reason behind this decision. He said, “For the past 15 years, I have been struggling with the challenge of how to reach audiences who do not have geographical access to theatres, or those who are unable to make it to theatres for various reasons."

Aamir explained how UPI and mobile payments have made it easier for Indians to access content. He said, “With our government bringing in UPI and India becoming No. 1 in the world in electronic payments... we can finally reach vast sections of people in India, and a significant part of the world. My dream is that cinema should reach everyone at a reasonable and affordable price.”
