‘Ae Watan Ke Logo’ : Lata Mangeshkar passes away on the day Kavi Pradeep was born

The nation is crying. The country was crying that day too when Lata Mangeshkar sang the song Ae Mere Watan Ke Logon as a new singer. The then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru himself had tears in his eyes. This immortal song of Lata was written by Kavi Pradeep. This song of Pradeep was immortalized in the notes of Lata and is liked till date

But today when the country and the world is crying for Lata, Lata ji may have been sitting with the poet Pradeep in some part of the heaven.

Lata Didi must be wishing him for this song of his. Also wishing him a happy birthday today. Due to this song of Pradeep, all three are immortal today – Lata ji, Kavi Pradeep and this song sung by both of them.

It is also important to know for the country, which is mourning the death of Lata Mangeshkar, that today is also the birth anniversary of poet Pradeep.

The same poet Pradeep who wrote that song without singing which no program of patriotism is complete. Today a wonderful coincidence has been made for the cultural heritage of India.

Today, the goddess of art, Maa Saraswati is being given farewell as Lata Mangeshkar is no more with us and on this day 107 years ago, the poet Pradeep, who awakened the spirit of patriotism, was born.

Kavi Pradeep was born on 6 February 1915 in Badnagar, Madhya Pradesh. He died on 11 December 1998 in Mumbai. Kavi Pradeep was known as Ramchandra Narayan Dwivedi in his childhood.

Kavi Pradeep was identified with the film Bandhan released in 1940. But he got real fame from the song ‘Dur hato ae duniya wale Hindustan hamara hai’ from the hit 1943 film Kismat. This song immortalized him among the creators of patriotic songs. Understanding this song, the then British government was so furious that the poet Pradeep had to go underground to avoid it.

The reason why the pair of Lata Mangeshkar and Kavi Pradeep became immortal was the song Ae Mere Watan Ke Logon.

The story of this song is also a story of coincidence. In fact, after the Indo-China war in 1962, the film industry organized a charity show to provide financial help to the army personnel. The show was scheduled to take place on 27 January 1963. The then PM Nehru and President Radhakrishnan were to come in this show.

Today Pradeep is no more and now Lata ji is no more. But this strange coincidence definitely leaves us bewildered. The bodies of both may not be with us, but their cultural contribution will continue to influence the generations to come.
