After Snake Venom Case, YouTuber Elvish Yadav Lands in ED Net, Money Laundering Probe On

As the Enforcement Directorate files a money laundering case, Elvish Yadav, the internet celebrity entangled in a controversy surrounding a snake venom rave party, is facing additional legal ramifications.

Elvish Yadav: After the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed a money laundering case in relation to the snake venom-rave party case that Gautam the Buddh Nagar police had filed against him, internet celebrity Elvish Yadav found himself in hot water once more.

Judicial Custody and Bail

Yadav was placed under 14 days of judicial custody after his arrest on March 17. Five days later, though, a local court granted him bail. Given the sizeable sum of money involved in the racket, a senior ED official confirmed that the agency’s Lucknow unit has filed a case against Yadav and others under various sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in connection with the snake venom incident. He said Yadav and other individuals connected to the previous case would probably be questioned by the team.

Chargesheet Filed Under Wildlife Conservation Act

Nearly six months after the FIR was filed, on April 6, the Gautam Buddha Nagar police filed a 1,200-page chargesheet under the Wildlife Conservation Act against Yadav and seven other people in connection with the case.

The chargesheet details the smuggling of snakes and the use of their venom at the parties. News agencies had reported that a poisonous snake and 20 milliliters of a krait snake’s venom were found at the party site, indicating that Yadav had contact with snake handlers.

Elvish Yadav’s Defense Against Accusations

Yadav had contested the accusations against him, calling them “baseless and fake,” but later on, the police dropped the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act case against him, claiming that their side had made a “mistake.”
