Raid 2 is now streaming hot on Netflix from June 26. After a decent theatrical performance, the movie is now open for wide-scale OTT streaming for the global fans of Ajay Devgn.

But Netflix decides to skip the regional South Indian languages in the dubbing. Instead, they focus on foreign language dubbing. What could be the reason behind it? Will it help the movie spread further to the global audience?

Raid 2 Streams in Hindi, Spanish, and Portuguese

The movie starring Ajay Devgn as IRS officer Amay Patnaik was released in theatres on May 1. However, the recent report states that instead of the usual dubs in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam languages, Netflix makes a totally unexpected move.

Netflix decides to dub the movie in two other foreign languages apart from Hindi: Spanish and Portuguese. For the Indian audience, especially those from the Southern Belt, it is definitely a massive shock. An Indian movie based on Indian soil, this careful skip of regional language suggests something more.

Is This a Sign of Global Interest in Indian Thrillers?

It is definitely clear that the OTT platform aspires to give this movie a global reach. The increasing interest in watching Indian thrillers among foreigners can be the reason. This is definitely a good sign and a motivation for Indian filmmakers to get global recognition. However, skipping the obvious South Indian languages can lead to another civil linguistic conflict.

The Interesting Plot of Raid 2

To be honest, with its main concept, Raid 2 focuses on the raid. This time, it is about a corrupt politician named “Dada” Mahohar Bhai, played by Riteish Deshmukh. The sequel to Raid, released in 2018, brilliantly holds its true suspense. Both veteran actors play their roles of villain and hero with their full hearts.

However, skipping the South languages to focus on the foreign ones is surely an audacious step. It shows Bollywood’s shifting priorities towards a global audience. Will this strategy pay off? Only time will tell.
