Akshay Kumar is all geared up for his latest release Ram Setu. This is going to be his fifth movie of 2022, Directed by Abhishek Sharma, the action-adventure film will hit the cinemas this Diwali and its clashing with Ajay Devgan’s Thank god. The expectations are high from Ram Setu as Akshay Kumar has not had a memorable year so far. He is known as the busiest actor of Bollywood but any of his film hasn’t done an impressive performance at the box office. Three of his films were released in the theatres and Cuttputlii was premiered on OTT.
Ahead of the release of his upcoming film Ram Setu, let’s have a look at Akshay Kumar’s performance at the box office in 2022.
Bachchan Pandey
Akshay started this year Farhad Samji’s Bachchan Pandey. The film was also featuring Kriti Sanon and Arshad Warsi in important roles. The action comedy was unanimously criticized by the critics. It manage to collect the opening of Rs 13.25 crore but it was only because of the star power of Akshay Kumar and the film was not getting expected response after that.
The reviews were also negative for Akshay Kumar’s Bachchan Pandey. The film ended its theatrical run at Rs 49.98 crore and emerged to be a flop.
Samrat Prithviraj
After the failure of Bachchan Pandey, Akshay was seen in Samrat Prithviraj on the big screen. The expectations were high with this film also but the film could not strike well at the box office. Samrat Prithviraj was the debut film of Manushi Chhillar. The film collected Rs 10.70 crore on its first day and it comes under the biggest failures of 2022.
Raksha Bandhan
Akshay teamed up with his Atrangi Re director Aanand L Rai for Raksha Bandhan. This film has a story of a brother who wants to marry his sisters but he faces difficulties regarding dowry. Unfortunately, the comedy-drama film failed to turn the tide back for Akshay Kumar and became his third flop in a row. The film collected only Rs 44.39 at the box office.
Now, all eyes are on his upcoming film Ram Setu. The film is set to release on October 25 in theaters.
