Akshay Kumar Eyes Dhurandhar-Style Films After Its Massive Success: ‘Kabhi Mauka Milega…’

Akshay Kumar praises Dhurandhar’s success and hopes to work in similar films. Here’s what he said about the blockbuster franchise.

Akshay Kumar has joined the growing list of celebrities praising the blockbuster Dhurandhar franchise. After its massive success at the box office, the actor has now expressed his desire to be part of similar large-scale films in the future.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, the spy thriller has taken the industry by storm. While several stars like Rajinikanth, Allu Arjun, Vijay Deverakonda and Mahesh Babu have already praised the film, Akshay Kumar’s reaction has now grabbed attention.

Akshay Kumar On Dhurandhar’s Impact

In a recent chat on Shubhankar Mishra’s YouTube channel, Akshay Kumar spoke about what makes Dhurandhar stand out. He appreciated the storytelling and the depth of research behind the film.

He said, “It goes on the way about the country… it is a very well-knit film. Every answer is answered. Obviously, saaf pata chalta hain ki unko pata tha bohot saari cheeezein unko bohot jagahon se mili hain aur unhone uss film ko leke banaya. The reality of it, what kind of things they wanted to show.”

The actor also highlighted how the film balances realism with cinematic scale. According to him, this mix is what makes it special and relevant in today’s changing film landscape.

He continued, “What happened in Pakistan, what happened in India… how they were dealing with it… how one agency works against the other agencies… beautifully made. Larger than life also. Catching the real thing and putting a larger-than-life cinema into it and expanding it. Cinemas are changing. Kabhi mauka milega aisi cinema mein kaam karne ka (Hopefully I will get a chance to work in films like these).”

Dhurandhar Franchise Creates Box Office Storm

The Dhurandhar series, led by Ranveer Singh, has emerged as one of the biggest film franchises in recent times. The first part, released in December 2025, was both a critical and commercial success.

The sequel, Dhurandhar 2 The Revenge, released on March 19, continued the strong run. Together, the two films have reportedly earned over Rs 3,000 crore worldwide, making them massive global hits.

The story follows an Indian spy navigating Karachi’s underworld while dealing with complex geopolitical tensions. It draws from real-life events like the 1999 IC-814 hijacking, the 2001 Parliament attack, and the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

The second part takes the narrative forward, showing the rise of Ranveer Singh’s character as Hamza Ali Mazari. It also features a gripping face-off with Arjun Rampal and includes performances by R Madhavan and Sanjay Dutt.
