Alia Bhatt is stealing the spotlight at the 78th Festival de Cannes. The Bollywood star made two stunning appearances on the red carpet: a custom Schiaparelli gown and a Swarovski-embellished Gucci dress. But her most buzzworthy look wasn’t on the official red carpet. It was a bold mustard-yellow Gucci three-piece that took vintage style to a whole new level.

Styled by Rhea Kapoor, Alia’s vibrant Gucci outfit screamed 1960s French Riviera chic. The bustier blouse had spaghetti straps and a sweetheart neckline, showing just a hint of midriff. She paired it with a matching cropped blazer, featuring padded shoulders and logo embroidery on the collar. The look was completed with a sleek pencil skirt that fell just below the calves.

Alia added a floral silk headscarf that framed her face perfectly. She finished the look with white Gucci kitten heels, a mini handbag, yellow diamond earrings by Chopard, and cocktail rings. Her hair was tucked neatly into the scarf, except for a single curled strand that softened her look. Bold red lips, feathered brows, and glowing skin completed her vintage glam.

First Gucci Saree For Alia’s Cannes 2025 Appearance?

The biggest buzz came from Alia’s final red carpet outfit. She wore a custom Gucci design that many called a historic first - an Indian-inspired silhouette by the luxury brand. Gucci described it as “a custom Gucci gown with embroidered crystals in a GG Monogram pattern.” But fashion fans disagreed, sparking a debate online over whether it was a saree or a lehenga.

Instagram users reacted strongly to the confusion on Diet Sabya’s post. A user said, “It’s choli lehengaaa. Someone, please, explain to Gucci,” Another commented, “In what universe is this a saree? Y’all are stretching at this point.” A third user said, “Let’s call it lehenga... saree is sareeee.”

Alia Bhatt’s outfit featured a nude-toned, Swarovski crystal bralette, paired with a high-waisted fishtail skirt and a dupatta draped over one shoulder, trailing behind like a train. She kept accessories minimal, wearing diamond earrings, a choker, and a cocktail ring. Soft waves, winged eyeliner, flushed cheeks, and glossy pink lips completed the elegant look.
