Anurag Kashyap has once again found himself at the helm of controversy over his latest tweet. He recently praised Tamil film Bakasuran which has been attracting negative limelight for its regressive plot. In his tweet, Anurag Kashyap wrote, “#Bakasuran Hearing good word of mouth for this movie in South…Congrats my friend @natty_nataraj & Dir @selvaraghavan.” Natarajan Subramaniam commented, “Thank you so so much Anuraag…”

Anurag Kashyap has often garnered controversy over his tweets. In the recent, he is attracting flak for praising recently released Tamil film Bakasuran. However, this did not go well with a section of netizens who have watched the film. Bakasuran has attracted negative reviews for its negative plot and toxic masculinity.
As soon as he the filmmaker tweeted, netizens flocked in the comment section to lambast him. “Tell Natty not to ask you to promote these below par, socially irresponsible movies directed by bigots please. Doesn’t matter if he’s part of it. It’s casteist and it’s full of bigotry,” one twitterati wrote.
“It’s a castiest Sanghi guys movie. Why you market it without knowing the movie or it’s people’s background ?” wrote another person.
“The Director is a Casteist who stereotypes Dalits and Minorities and showcases them in a bad way in All his Films..This Film says, Women shouldn’t be given smartphones inorder to reduce crimes against them..DO NOT SUPPORT A MOVIE WITHOUT DOING BASIC RESEARCH FOR FRIENDSHIP SAKE,” another person commented.
Anurag Kashyap on quitting Twitter
Anurag Kashyap recently told in an interview that he started tweeting less after trolls targeted his daughter, Aaliyah. He said that some trolls even went on to send his teen-aged daughter rape threats which made him take a break.
Anurag opened up about the threats’ impact on Aaliyah Kashyap in a recent conversation with Tanmay Bhatt, and said, “I have an amazing daughter. She really is out there expressing herself but her anxiety bothers me. And her anxiety started after those threats and things like that. Her anxiety like literally made me drop everything and run to the US, and she came back here. Other than her anxiety issues, she is just amazing.”
