The box office race between Baaghi 4 and The Bengal Files has turned into an uphill battle for both films. Despite carrying the weight of a successful franchise, Tiger Shroff’s latest action drama has been struggling to perform, while Vivek Agnihotri’s historical drama continues to see limited growth.

Directed by A Harsha in his Hindi debut, Baaghi 4 entered its second Monday with disappointing numbers. According to early estimates by Sacnilk, the film earned only Rs 0.75 crore on Day 11, bringing its total collection to Rs 50.40 crore. With this, the film has just managed to cross the Rs 50 crore mark.

The film’s Hindi occupancy stood at 10.12 percent on September 15, reflecting its struggle to attract footfalls. For a franchise known for high-octane action and box office buzz, the lukewarm response has been a setback.

The movie stars Tiger Shroff, Sanjay Dutt, Sonam Bajwa, and Harnaaz Sandhu (who makes her Hindi film debut). Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, the film is the fourth instalment in the Baaghi series and an unofficial remake of the Tamil film Ainthu Ainthu Ainthu.

Baaghi 4 faced 23 cuts from the Central Board of Film Certification despite receiving an “A” certificate. Muted dialogues, trimmed fight sequences, and censored visuals left fans disappointed. To make matters worse, the film fell victim to piracy within hours of its release.

Recently, YouTubers like Deeksha Sharma alleged that copyright enforcement tools were being misused to silence negative reviews. Many warned that repeated strikes could result in permanent deletion of their channels, sparking a wider debate about censorship in the digital space.

Meanwhile, Vivek Agnihotri’s The Bengal Files is also facing a tough journey. On Day 11, the film collected just Rs 0.3 crore net, taking its total to Rs 14.4 crore, according to Sacnilk. It recorded an overall occupancy of 16.65 percent on September 15.

The film opened below expectations with Rs 1.75 crore on its first Friday. Collections rose slightly over the weekend with Rs 2.25 crore on Saturday and Rs 2.75 crore on Sunday, but dropped sharply to Rs 1.15 crore on Monday. Reduced shows across India have further dented its chances of a stronger run.

The Bengal Files revisits the tragic events of Bengal’s 1946 Direct Action Day and the Noakhali riots. The film stars Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, Saswata Chatterjee, Darshan Kumarr, and Sourav Das. Despite its powerful theme, the movie has not managed to translate its historical subject into box office numbers.
