Last Friday (September 5) turned out to be a big day for movie lovers with three major releases – Tiger Shroff’s action drama Baaghi 4, Vivek Agnihotri’s political drama The Bengal Files, and Hollywood’s horror thriller The Conjuring Last Rites. All of them entered their 2nd week yesterday.

While the Hollywood horror is leading strongly, the two Indian films are struggling with poor collections.

Tiger Shroff made his return with Baaghi 4, but the film has not matched the success of its earlier parts. On day 8, it earned only Rs 1.26 crore, bringing its India total to Rs 45.76 crore. The movie started with a solid Rs 12 crore opening, followed by Rs 9.25 crore on Saturday and Rs 10 crore on Sunday.

However, the collections dropped sharply during weekdays, closing the first week at Rs 44.55 crore. Compared to the earlier films – Baaghi (Rs 61.93 crore in 8 days), Baaghi 2 (Rs 118.55 crore), and Baaghi 3 (Rs 92.87 crore). The new film is the weakest performer despite high-octane action and Sanjay Dutt playing the villain.

Vivek Agnihotri’s The Bengal Files has performed even worse. The film failed to attract audiences from the start and is struggling to cross Rs 15 crore in its first week. At more than three hours long, it explores Direct Action Day and the Noakhali riots, but its heavy and graphic presentation has kept audiences away.
