Aamir Khan has broken his silence on the backlash over his past meetings with Turkish leaders. The actor responded strongly after reports surfaced that Turkey supplied combat drones to Pakistan following India’s 'Operation Sindoor'.

Speaking on Aap Ki Adalat, Aamir told Rajat Sharma, “Turkey ne bahut galat kiya, and every Indian is hurt.”

He reminded everyone that India had stepped up with aid during Turkey’s 2023 earthquake and added, “At that time, neither I nor our government knew what Turkey would do later.”

Aamir Khan On Meeting Turkish Lady Emine And Boycott Calls By Indians

Aamir also addressed the viral 2020 photo of him meeting Turkish First Lady Emine Erdogan. He said it was a simple diplomatic gesture. “As a public figure representing India abroad, it is customary to accept diplomatic courtesies. When invited for tea, I couldn’t refuse.”

He clarified that there was no way of predicting Turkey’s future actions back then. “When I met President Erdogan, I did not know that his country would support actions against India seven years later.”

Aamir didn’t shy away from expressing his disappointment now. “What Turkey has done now is completely wrong, and it has deeply hurt us. I was angry too.”

On the current boycott trend, Aamir backed the public. “They are doing the right thing. We must not support a country that is siding with those who attack us. We extended friendship during their time of need, and in return, they supported Pakistan. Bahut hi galat baat hai.”

Why Dangal Wasn’t Released in Pakistan

During the show, Aamir also revealed why Dangal never hit Pakistani theatres. He said the Pakistani censor board asked the producers to delete scenes showing India’s national flag and anthem.

He shared, “Disney, the producers of Dangal, told me that Pakistani censors have told them to remove the scenes of our national tricolour fluttering and our national anthem being sung when Geeta Phogat won the match.”

He added, “I did not take a second to tell the Disney people not to release the movie in Pakistan. Mujhe woh dhandha chahiye hi nahin.”

Aamir stood firm on not compromising with patriotism. “If anybody tells me to remove the Indian flag and national anthem, I will tell them I have no interest in such business.”
