Bollywood’s two biggest Khans can turn a simple birthday message into a headline. Shah Rukh Khan turned 61 on November 2, 2026, and a late-night Instagram exchange with Salman Khan has been the talk of social media since.
What Salman Khan Wished Shah Rukh
Salman posted on his Instagram Stories on Monday, sharing “Tu Mil Jaaye”, the first song from SRK’s upcoming film King. His message prayed that Shah Rukh stays young forever. It was short and warm, and it sounded like a friend talking, not a celebrity posting.
SRK’s Cheeky “Bina Shirt” Reply
Shah Rukh did not send a plain “thank you.” He replied that he worked hard on his body only because Salman had said a shirtless look suits him, and he ended with love for “bhai.” That one joke made fans laugh and made the exchange go viral.

The Koffee With Karan Link
The joke has a backstory. On the first episode of Koffee With Karan season 9, Salman was asked in the rapid-fire round who looks good shirtless, and he named Shah Rukh. SRK remembered the compliment and turned it into a playful reply, which is what fans enjoyed most.
Why Fans Loved the Exchange
There are three reasons it worked:
- It was funny without being unkind. Both stars joked about themselves.
- It felt real. There was no PR polish, only two friends teasing each other.
- It reflects a long bond. Their friendship began with the 1995 film Karan Arjun. They have also made cameos in each other’s films, including Pathaan and Tiger 3.
A Birthday Packed With Celebration
The day was busy for SRK. The first song from King was released on his birthday, and he also greeted fans from Mannat in a white T-shirt, denim and a beanie. The banter with Salman added a light moment to the celebrations.
