Border 2 Song ‘Ghar Kab Aaoge’: ‘Ruining The Old Aesthetic…’ Netizens Dislike Revamped Track Of Sunny Deol Starrer, Say Original Was Better

Border 2 song “Ghar Kab Aaoge” faces mixed reactions online as fans compare it to the iconic “Sandese Aate Hain”. Read why netizens are divided.

Border 2 Song Ghar Kab Aaoge Sunny Deol

The makers of Border 2 have released the first song “Ghar Kab Aaoge”. The song is a reimagined version of the iconic “Sandese Aate Hain” from the 1997 film Border. It was meant to bring back the same emotions and patriotic feeling. However, the response online has been mixed. Many listeners feel the new version does not match the soul of the original.

The song dropped on January 2, 2026. Soon after, social media was flooded with reactions. Reddit users shared strong opinions. Some praised the effort, but many felt disappointed. The debate quickly picked up as fans compared every detail to the original track.

“Ghar Kab Aaoge” is designed as a tribute to Indian soldiers and their families. The song features Sonu Nigam, Arijit Singh, Vishal Mishra, and Diljit Dosanjh. The audio version runs for more than 10 minutes. This makes it much longer than most film songs today. Mithoon has recreated the music, building on Anu Malik’s original tune. Javed Akhtar’s classic lines remain, while Manoj Muntashir Shukla has added new lyrics.

Border 2 Song ‘Ghar Kab Aaoge’ Faces Online Backlash

Many netizens were unhappy with the final result. Several users felt the new music ruined the simplicity of the original. One Reddit user wrote, “This is so so bad, the lyrics, Arijit and Vishal, the beats absolutely ruining the old aesthetic. Why tf did they put bhangra beats on this?” Another said, “Seriously, this new song is so bad.”

Some fans believe the original song should not have been touched at all. One comment read, “They should have left it alone. Except bits and pieces, it doesn’t sound better than the original.” Others took issue with the new lyrics. A user remarked, “The new lyrics killed the vibe.. specially ae guzarne wali hawa line.. Javed Akhtar’s line was better.”

At the same time, a few listeners felt the song improves as it goes on. “Full song sun liya, but Honestly, the 4-singer idea grows on you as the song progresses,” one user shared. Another added, “Arijit ka part still hurts the most, but baaki voices actually add layers instead of clutter.”

For many 90s kids, “Sandese Aate Hain” remains untouchable. They feel no remake can replace the emotion of the original. One user summed it up by saying, “Nothing beats the original but good effort.” Some fans also felt Sonu Nigam and Roop Kumar Rathod’s portions carried the real emotion. They believe the newer voices did not fully suit a soldier’s anthem.

The Song Was Launched Today In Jaisalmer

The makers went big with the launch. The song is picturised on Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty. Each actor represents a different wing of the armed forces. The track was launched at a grand event in Jaisalmer, close to the border. This was done to highlight its patriotic message.

The song sets the mood for Border 2, which releases on January 23, 2026.
