Sunny Deol starrer Border 2 is already grabbing attention even before its theatrical release. The war drama has taken over the internet with its trailer, putting it in direct comparison with Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar. Since its release, Dhurandhar has ruled the box office. It outperformed almost every big film and continues to run strong even today. The spy actioner showed no signs of slowing down and kept breaking records week after week.

Now, with Border 2 breaking its first big record days before release, many are wondering whether this sequel will finally challenge Dhurandhar’s long-standing box office throne.

Border 2 Breaks FIRST Record Of Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar

The official trailer of Border 2 was released on Thursday evening, January 15, and the response was massive. Within 24 hours, the trailer crossed 20 million views on YouTube. This easily beat the first-day trailer views of Dhurandhar, which had recorded around 17 million views.

The buzz only grew stronger after that. In just two days, the Border 2 trailer crossed 44.1 million views and started trending at number one on YouTube.

Because of this early hype, many in the trade believe Border 2 could challenge the box office records set by Dhurandhar. However, whether it can maintain this momentum after release remains to be seen.

About The Trailer Of Sunny Deol Starrer Sequel

Released on January 15, 2026, to mark Indian Army Day, the 3-minute and 35-second trailer promises a much larger scale than the 1997 original. Directed by Anurag Singh, the film expands the 1971 war story across land, air, and sea. Sunny Deol returns as Lt Col Fateh Singh Kaler and leads a new generation of soldiers.

The trailer introduces Varun Dhawan as an Indian Army officer, Diljit Dosanjh as an Air Force fighter pilot, and Ahan Shetty heading naval operations. Together, they show a coordinated mission by the Indian Armed Forces.

Visually, the trailer is packed with action and strong patriotic emotion. It opens with Sunny Deol staring down a Pakistani tank, setting an intense tone. The visuals move from ground combat and tank battles to aerial dogfights and large-scale naval attacks. The scale is clearly much bigger than the original Border.

The emotional side is also given space. Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Medha Rana and Anya Singh appear as family members waiting back home, showing the personal sacrifices of soldiers.

Several dialogues have already gone viral. Sunny Deol’s line – “Tumhare Pakistan mein itne log nahi jitne humare yahan Eid par bakre kaate jaate hain” has sparked strong reactions online. Another moment shows soldiers shouting “Lahore tak” when asked where their war cries should reach. Varun Dhawan also leaves an impact with his line about having the “temperament of Parshuram” while worshipping Lord Ram.

The trailer also uses modern versions of iconic songs like “Sandese Aate Hai” and “Hindustan Meri Jaan”, adding nostalgia. While many viewers praised Sunny Deol’s screen presence and Diljit Dosanjh’s performance, some critics pointed out the heavy use of VFX and the loud tone.

Still, the response has been overwhelming. With records already falling, all eyes are now on whether Border 2 can truly shake Dhurandhar’s box office reign after its release.
