According to TellyChakkar, Shah Rukh Khan is “willing” to reprise his iconic role in Don 3, but only if director Atlee joins the project. The report suggests that the actor wants the Jawan filmmaker on board to raise the film’s scale and excitement. This request is believed to be linked to the huge success of their recent collaboration. That said, there has been no official confirmation, and the makers are yet to take a final decision.
Shah Rukh Khan last appeared as Don in Don 2, which was released in 2011. When Don 3 was announced, Farhan Akhtar revealed Ranveer Singh as the new lead with his decision to revamp the franchise. However, Ranveer exited the project after Dhurandhar success, once again putting the film’s future in question.
If Atlee does come on board, it could also impact Farhan Akhtar’s role as director. Farhan has shaped the Don franchise from the beginning and is closely linked to its vision. Some believe that bringing in another filmmaker could dilute his creative control.

A source told the publication, “He is keen to collaborate with filmmakers like Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Atlee, and at the same time, he doesn’t want to be seen in back-to-back gangster films, especially since Dhurandhar is already established in that space.” Another report, however, claimed that Ranveer was removed from the film due to a pay hike and other demands.
Casting confusion continues to surround Don 3. Kiara Advani was initially signed as the female lead opposite Ranveer Singh. Recent reports suggest that she has exited the project, with Kriti Sanon replacing her. However, the makers have not made any official announcement yet.
There is also uncertainty around the antagonist. Reports claim that Vikrant Massey and Vijay Deverakonda were approached for the role, but both declined, citing a lack of depth in the character.
