Early Life and Dance Dreams

Life dealt Arshad a tough hand early on. He tragically lost his parents at the young age of 18. This forced him to leave his education behind and take on the responsibility of making a living. To support himself, he even took on the challenging job of selling cosmetics on buses and trains.

Arshad’s passion for dance fueled his early career. He joined Akbar Sami’s dance group and honed his skills under the guidance of legendary choreographers like Alyque Padamsee and Bharat Dabholkar. Even with his talent, fate had other plans.

From Choreographer to Actor

Despite his choreography aspirations, a chance encounter with actress Jaya Bachchan opened doors to acting. Impressed by his potential, Jaya cast him in her production “Tere Mere Sapne” without a screen test. The film became a box office success, launching Arshad’s acting career.

Box Office Slump and Determination

However, success wasn’t immediate. Despite a promising debut, Arshad faced a string of flops. He went jobless for three years, taking on odd jobs to make ends meet. During this challenging period, his wife Maria’s support proved invaluable.

The Turning Point – Munna Bhai MBBS

In 2003, everything changed with “Munna Bhai MBBS.” His portrayal of Circuit opposite Sanjay Dutt’s Munna Bhai was a game-changer. The film’s critical and commercial success catapulted Arshad to stardom.

Comedy Capers and Continued Success

Arshad cemented his place in Bollywood with a string of successful comedies like “Hulchul,” “Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya?,” and the iconic “Golmaal” franchise. He showcased his versatility with acclaimed performances in films like “Lage Raho Munna Bhai” and “Ishqiya.”

Present and Future

Today, Arshad continues to impress audiences. He recently garnered praise for his role in the web series “Asur.” With upcoming projects like “Welcome to The Jungle,” Arshad’s future looks bright.
