Minister Confronts Singer On Stage
Mehndi’s performance at the Siddhpeeth Maa Kunjapuri Tourism and Development Fair in New Tehri on October 18 was interrupted by Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal. Uniyal reportedly questioned whether the singer could even perform in that condition. Uniyal later told ANI that Mehndi had been offered ₹35 lakh but had not done justice to his art.
Mika Singh Rejects The Allegation
Mika vowed to quit singing if anyone could prove that Daler drinks alcohol. He said his brother has been unwell for two years and still performs with his band. He also urged the media to verify facts before publishing such claims. Mika further argued that many singers use backing tracks, yet no one questions them the way Daler was questioned.
Industry Rallies Behind Mehndi
Badshah and comedian Kapil Sharma also defended Mehndi, and Sharma highlighted his recent surgery. Actor Anupam Kher criticised the minister for publicly humiliating the singer. Not everyone agreed. Singer Sona Mohapatra argued that respect for a veteran artist should not come at the cost of professional accountability.
Dhami Steps In To Calm Tempers
Mika said Dhami personally called him to discuss the matter. Mika asked the chief minister to have Uniyal issue a video clarification and apologise to Daler. Dhami later phoned Daler Mehndi to enquire about his well-being. He had earlier said Uniyal clarified that he was unaware of the singer’s ill health. Daler publicly thanked Mika for standing up for him.
