Covid: Rajinikanth donates Rs 50 lakh to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Relief Fund

Superstar Rajinikanth on Monday met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin at his office in Chennai and donated Rs 50 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund as India continues to suffer loss of lives amid the second wave of pandemic.

Earlier on May 14, Rajinikanth’s daughter Soundarya, along with her husband Vishagan, father-in-law Vanangamudi and sister-in-law visited CM Stalin at his office in Chennai to personally hand over the cheque of Rs 1 crore to him in a bid to help the state fight covid-19 pandemic. Announcing the news on Twitter, she wrote, “My father-in-law Mr S.S.Vanangamudi, husband Vishagan, his sister and I visited the honorable Chief minister @mkstalin sir this morning to hand over our contribution of 1cr for the chief ministers #CoronaReliefFund from our pharma company Apex laboratories, Makers of #Zincovit (sic).”

The move comes after Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin requested public and private organizations to donate to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMPRF) to help state in its fight against coronavirus. Since then, several actors from the South Indian film industry have come forward and have donated money. Among the other celebrities to have made donations include Suriya-Karthi, Sivakumar, Ajith, Sivakarthikeyan, Jayam Ravi, Mohan and director Vetri Maaran.
