Dhurandhar has landed in cinemas with high expectations, and early reactions suggest that the film has struck a chord with audiences. Despite ongoing negative campaigns and online noise, viewers who caught the first show are calling the spy-action thriller gripping, emotional, and packed with moments that keep them glued to their seats. The film runs for a massive 3 hours and 34 minutes, yet viewers say the pacing holds strong and the theatre experience feels complete.

Fans are also celebrating Ranveer Singh’s return to the big screen after more than two years. The actor marks his 15th year in Bollywood this December, and audiences believe Dhurandhar is a solid comeback. The trailer had already set the tone with gritty visuals and a strong cast that includes Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi. Now, viewers are saying the film delivers on that promise.

Dhurandhar Review: Ranveer Singh Starrer Gets Thumbs Up From Audience

Despite the chatter surrounding alleged negative PR, the film seems to be winning the battle where it matters most (inside the cinema halls). Early viewers have taken to social media to share their thoughts, and the reactions so far are upbeat.

One user posted from the theatre and wrote, “Just finished Dhurandar first half. It’s too tight and gripping. So many references used in such a good manner. All the performances are amazing. @AdityaDharFilms is a brilliant director who knows how to portray facts so properly.”

Another viewer wrote, “The fake death + secret survival sets up a bigger sequel with higher stakes.”

Another online user said, “Pure Paisa Vasool! Ranveer Singh is on absolute fire, BGM hits HARD, action is wild, and the storyline keeps you hooked till the end. A full-on mass entertainer.”

More reactions praised the background score, the staging of the action sequences and Ranveer Singh’s intense performance. Many called it the most ambitious Indian spy film in recent years.

About The Film

Dhurandhar is inspired by real covert missions that took place after the IC-814 hijacking and the 2001 Parliament attack. The story follows a young man from Punjab who is recruited by the Intelligence Bureau Chief Ajay Sanyal to infiltrate a terror network operating in Karachi. The mission pushes him into the depths of the Karachi underworld, where he adopts a secret identity and works to uncover the ISI–underworld link.

Ranveer Singh plays the undercover RAW agent known as “Hamza.” R. Madhavan appears as Ajay Sanyal, a character widely believed to be inspired by NSA Ajit Doval. Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna and Arjun Rampal add weight to the story with strong supporting performances. The film’s long runtime makes it one of the lengthiest Hindi releases in almost twenty years.

Dhurandhar Arrives With Its Own Share Of Controversies

Dhurandhar is Ranveer’s first A-rated film because of its violent action. The plot takes cues from real RAW operations, including “Operation Lyari.” It also marks the beginning of a two-part franchise, with the sequel expected in mid-2026.

However, the film has been surrounded by controversy from the start. After the trailer launch, some viewers linked the story to late Major Mohit Sharma. His family then filed a petition claiming the film borrowed from his life without permission. The CBFC later told the court that the film is fictional and not based on Major Sharma.

Soon after, actress Yami Gautam spoke about a “paid negative PR campaign” targeting the film. She claimed certain groups demanded money for promotions and threatened negative coverage when denied.

Despite all this, the audience response suggests Dhurandhar is holding its ground and winning over viewers with its scale, storytelling and performances. The film seems set for a strong word-of-mouth push as more people walk into theatres this weekend.
