Shah Rukh Khan will not be appearing in a cameo for Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Jailer 2. Reports say the actor chose to focus fully on his next project, King, rather than take up a brief five-day role in the pan-Indian action movie. The news sparked discussions online, with fans sharing mixed reactions.
The makers of Jailer 2 had approached Shah Rukh for a short cameo. While he was initially open to the idea, the schedules clashed with King, which is set for a major Christmas 2026 release. The film will also feature his daughter Suhana Khan in a key role.
Why Did Shah Rukh Khan Reject Jailer 2 Cameo?
A source told Pinkvilla that Shah Rukh was willing to do the cameo only if it could release after King, as he wanted his appearance to remain exclusive. He also did not want his look in King to appear in any other film first. The source added that discussions were friendly, and Shah Rukh still admires Rajinikanth and is open to working with him in the future.
DON'T MISS
Reacting to the report of rejecting cameo, a Reddit user wrote, “Kjo ayan ranbir ke liye 10-12 din shoot kardiya tha free.”
Another commented, “Good that he declined. Like how they treated Aamir for Rajni cameo was embarrassing. They call our stars for cameo and then demean our stars to look god-like.”
A third user said, “Rajni should have said the same during Ra.One cameo.”
King is an action-packed thriller directed by Siddharth Anand. The film marks Suhana Khan’s debut as Shah Rukh’s protégé. It also stars Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, and Arshad Warsi.
With a budget of around Rs 350 crore, major schedules have been completed in Mumbai and Warsaw. The film is set to release theatrically on 24 December 2026. Fans are especially excited about the father-daughter chemistry and high-octane action sequences.
About His Planned Cameo In Rajinikanth Starrer
As per the reports, Jailer 2 team had planned a five-day shoot in April for Shah Rukh’s cameo. The role reportedly involved a pivotal cop character and a high-energy action sequence with Rajinikanth’s Tiger Muthuvel Pandian in a car-crushing factory in Chandigarh. However, with post-production underway and the film likely to be released in June or August 2026, the cameo did not happen.
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 features a star-studded cast including Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Vidya Balan and Vijay Sethupathi.
