Diljit Dosanjh dedicates song to pop icon Rihanna, Kangana trolls singer

Punjabi actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh has released a new song in honour of American pop icon Rihanna after the latter shed light on the ongoing farmers’ protest in India on Tuesday. The song was released by Diljit on his YouTube channel on Wednesday afternoon titled, “RiRi (Rihanna).”

In the two-minute-fifteen-second song, Diljit talks about Rihanna’s home country Barbados and how she is an angel who has descended from the heavens. The rest of the song has a lot of cliches about beauty and clothing that are often heard in Punjabi songs.

The song is titled RiRi, a reference to the singer’s nickname. RiRi has been written by Raj Ranjodh with music by Intense.

Diljit, however, shared a Punjabi proverb on Twitter: “Jaat Di Kohr Kirli, Shateeriyan Nu Jaffe… (which in English means that your status in life is rather insignificant but you know how to talk big).” Later, he shared a picture of Rihanna on Instagram Stories, with the song Run This Town playing in the background.

The song was released shortly after Rihanna’s tweet on the ongoing farmer’s protest, which drew a lot of public attention. The international pop star shared an article on Farmers protest and tweeted, “What aren’t we talking about this?!#FarmersProtest”.

Not just Diljit, several other celebs like Shruti Seth, Swara Bhasker, Richa Chadha, etc have hailed Rihanna for supporting the farmers. Interestingly, apart from Rihanna, environmental activist Greta Thunberg, Mia Khalifa, had also supported the farmers protest.

However, it seems his song didn’t go down well with Kangana Ranaut. Thus, replying to Diljit Dosanjh on the tweet where he announced the song, she wrote “Isko bhi apne 2 rupees banane hain, yeh sab kabse plan ho raha hai ?One month toh minimum lagega to prep for video and announcement, and libru want us to believe it’s all organic ha ha #Indiatogether #IndiaAgainstPropoganda”

Diljit Dosanjh is not someone who will let Kangana Ranaut go after making such allegations without giving a befitting reply. He replied, “2 Rupees. Apne Wali Job Mainu Na Das.. Gana Tan half An Hour Ch Bana Lene An Asi.. Tere te Banaun Nu Jee Ni Karda Mint tan 2 Hee Lagne an.. HAR JAGHA TU BOLNA HUNDA.. Ja Yaar Bore Na Kar .. Kam Kar Apna.. ( 2 Rupees. Don’t tell me about your job. I can make a song in just half hour. I just don’t feel like making a song on you.2 minute for it. You have to speak everywhere. Please go away and don’t bore me) (sic).”
