Farmers’ protest: Bollywood celebs extend support to farmers

India is currently witnessing one of the biggest protests of all time with farmers demanding Centre to take back controversial farm bills which have already been passed in the parliament. It has been a week since the farmers from across the country joined Punjab-Haryana farmers at Singhu border to show solidarity against the agriculture related laws.

To extend support to farmers, Punjabi singers joined in a social media campaign called ‘Tractor to Twitter’ wherein they raised voices against Centre’s farm laws on social media.

Diljit Dosanjh, who locked horns with actor Kangana Ranaut in the same light, was one of the firsts to voice support to farmers. The singer-turned-actor also visited farmers at Singh Border on Sunday. He was supported by Mika Singh, Ammy Virk, Hardy Sandhu and Jassie Gill.

In the recent, Bollywood celebs have also lend their support to farmers. Besides Taapsee Pannu and Swara Bhasker, who have been standing with farmers ever since the onset of protests, Priyanka Chopra, Preity Zinta and Sonam Kapoor have also urged Centre to make farmers demand meet.

Priyanka took to Twitter and said that farmers are food soldiers of country. “Our farmers are India’s Food Soldiers. Their fears need to be allayed. Their hopes need to be met. As a thriving democracy, we must ensure that this crises is resolved sooner than later,” she wrote while sharing one of Diljit’s tweet.

“When tillage begins, other arts follow. The farmers, therefore, are the founders of human civilization,” Sonam Kapoor shared a quote by Daniel Webster while sharing some pictures from the protest in order to lend her support to the movement.

Preity Zinta also shared a picture of protesting farmers and wrote, “

My heart goes out 2the farmers & their families protesting in the cold in this pandemic. They are the soldiers of the soil that keep our country going.I sincerely hope the talks between the farmers & govt yield positive results soon & all is resolved. #Farmerprotests#Rabrakha
