Actor Ram Kapoor has been removed from all promotions for his upcoming show Mistry after making offensive and inappropriate remarks during a press event in Mumbai last Thursday. Sources say his comments made several members of the show's crew and media uncomfortable.

Following internal discussions, the team decided to drop Kapoor from further promotions. Co-star Mona Singh continued with solo interviews the next day.

The move came after Kapoor reportedly made sexually inappropriate jokes and disrupted the event’s professional setting. The streaming platform behind the show has since distanced itself from his behaviour, stating it prioritises a safe and respectful workplace environment.

As reported by HT, sources reveal that Kapoor made repeated crude remarks throughout the day. He joked about kissing a male team member, made references to sex positions, and even used the phrase “gang-raped” during a media interaction. He also made an inappropriate joke, saying his mother “should have gone to sleep” instead of conceiving him.

In another uncomfortable moment, Kapoor commented on the clothing of female crew members at the event. He reportedly said, “If they are in my line of sight, how can I not look?” This left many in the room uneasy, and the issue was raised internally once interviews concluded.

Mona Singh Promotes Alone After His Removal

By Friday, Ram Kapoor was no longer part of the promotional campaign. Mona Singh continued the interviews alone. A source from JioHotstar told Midday, “This workplace prioritises dignity and safety. After a complaint was formally raised and the incidents corroborated by eyewitnesses, the leadership moved promptly. The platform wants to distance itself from any behaviour that normalises workplace misconduct.”

Mona Singh remained composed throughout the controversy and has taken on the responsibility of promoting the show on her own.

Mistry is the Indian adaptation of the Emmy Award-winning series Monk, which follows a gifted but troubled detective. Amid this controversy, the show is set to stream on JioHotstar from June 27.
