Grammy winner US based rapper Coolio, who is popularly known for the chart-topping 1995 song Gangsta’s Paradise, passed away at the age of 59 in Los Angeles on Wednesday. His manager gave this information. Real name of Coolio is Artis Leon Ivey Jr., he took his last breath at a friend’s house. Jarez Posey, whose his long time manager, told the Associated Press. The cause of the death of the rapper was not immediately provided. The manager told that he was found unresponsive in the bathroom of a friend’s house on Wednesday afternoon.

Coolio was nominated five times for Grammy
Coolio gained global fame in 1995 with his song Gangsta’s Paradise for the soundtrack of the film Dangerous Minds. The rapper was awarded the best rap solo performance for this track at the following year’s Grammy Awards. This track was not Coolio’s only Grammy nomination. He was nominated for five other Grammys during a career in the late 1980s. US rapper was born in Monessen, Pennsylvania south of Pittsburgh. Coolio moved to California for attending his community college. He also worked as a volunteer firefighter and he also worked in airport security before coming to hip hop scene.
