Harish Chaudhary may replace Harish Rawat as Punjab Congress in-charge

Rajasthan revenue minister Harish Chaudhary may replace former Uttarakhand chief minister Harish Rawat as the Punjab Congress affairs in-charge. Harish Chaudhary was appointed as an observer by the Congress high command during the recent leadership change in Punjab. The Punjab government recently saw captain Amarinder Singh’s resignation, while Charanjit Channi was made the chief minister of the poll-bound states. “I am ready to take whatever responsibility the party gives me,” Harish Chaudhary said when asked about his possible new role.

Meanwhile, in the fallout of the turmoil in the Punjab Congress, Harish Rawat and former CM Amarinder Singh have been engaged in a war of words.

Harish Rawat had attacked Amarinder Singh for failing to keep his promises on important issues and rejected his claim that he was humiliated in the Congress. However, the former CM reiterated sating “outrageous” remarks prompted by the pathetic situation the Punjab Congress was now mired in.

Denying the charge, Amarinder Singh said, “How can he now claim that the party leadership was dissatisfied with me, and if they were, then why did he deliberately keep me in the dark all this time?”
