Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has achieved a major academic milestone by securing the top position among all State Agricultural Universities in India and ranking second nationwide in the latest Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF) rankings. The achievement has been welcomed by Punjab leaders and the academic community as a recognition of the university’s contributions to agricultural education, research, and innovation.

Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema credited the accomplishment to the collective efforts of the university’s faculty members, researchers, teachers, staff, and students. Secures Second Position Nationally
Cheema noted that the university has played a crucial role in advancing agricultural research, developing innovative farming practices, and supporting the growth of Punjab’s agriculture sector. He said the institution’s continued success strengthens Punjab’s long-standing identity as the country’s food bowl and a leader in agricultural development.
The latest rankings also brought recognition for the veterinary education sector, with Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) securing the second position among veterinary universities across the country. The achievement reflects the growing prominence of Punjab’s higher education institutions in specialized fields of study.
