Heeramandi Song Azaadi: A few days before “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar” makes its Netflix debut on May 1st, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has released a stirring song called “Azaadi,” which means “Freedom.” A series full of themes of resistance and liberation is introduced with this powerful song.

Bhansali’s Melodies for Freedom
Composed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali himself, “Azaadi” is an engaging song that showcases both his musical and directing abilities. With the help of the strong voices of Archana Gore, Pragati Joshi, Aditi Prabhudesai, Aditi Paul, Taranum Malik Jain and Deepti Rege, lyricist AM Turaz crafts lyrics that speak to the need for independence. The choreography by Kriti Mahesh gives the song much more depth and passion.
A Glimpse into Heeramandi’s Fight
Leading ladies Sonakshi Sinha, Manisha Koirala and Sanjeeda Sheikh are featured in the 2.39-minute song, all dressed in vivid colours that stand for patriotism. The video show these women’s unapologetic spirit as they hoist torches and call for an end to British rule. The song ends with a powerful scene where Aditi Rao Hydari is given death sentence and all the women of Heeramandi is standing in support and bravery of Aditi’s sacrifice.
Third Song Sets the Stage
Azaadi” is the third song in the “Heeramandi” series. It follows “Sakal Ban” and “Tilsmi Bahen. The series also features a stellar supporting cast, including Shekhar Suman, Fardeen Khan, and Adhyayan Suman.
