Tamil film Karuppu faced an unexpected setback on its release day, leaving fans disappointed as early shows were cancelled due to reported financial and distribution issues. The sudden delay triggered strong reactions online, with audiences expressing frustration after eagerly waiting for the film’s arrival in theatres.
Director and actor RJ Balaji addressed the situation through an emotional video shared on social media. The filmmaker apologised to fans and said the team was working urgently to resolve the issue and ensure the film’s release as soon as possible. His teary-eyed message quickly went viral, drawing both sympathy and support from viewers.
RJ Balaji Issues Emotional Apology
In the video, RJ Balaji appeared visibly upset as he spoke directly to fans. He began by saying, “I hope this is my last update.”
Expressing regret over inconvenience caused, he said, “I am really sorry to all the fans. It shouldn’t have happened. You all had travelled from afar to watch the movie. We watch films to let go of our stress and the myriad of problems life throws at us. But you all shouldn’t have experienced stress in going to watch a movie. I am very sorry.”
He added that he had high hopes for the film’s success and was still optimistic about its release. The director said, “I wanted Karuppu to release on May 14 and become a blockbuster. I was manifesting it. I am very hopeful.”
Following the video, social media platforms were flooded with mixed reactions. While many fans criticised the delay and lack of clarity, others appreciated RJ Balaji’s emotional apology. Several users also urged the makers to resolve the issue quickly so that audiences could finally watch the film without further disruption.
The makers have confirmed that viewers who booked tickets for the cancelled morning and noon shows will receive refunds. The situation is expected to stabilise once the distribution issues are cleared.
