Filmmaker Karan Johar recently talked about a striking similarity between Shah Rukh Khan and his son, Aryan Khan. Karan has a close bond with Shah Rukh and often calls him his brother. He shared these insights on Komal Nahata’s YouTube channel, Game Changers.

Karan also acted in Aryan’s directorial debut, Ba***ds of Bollywood, and even called Aryan his “firstborn” in a note. Now, he has revealed that passion runs in the family.

Karan Johar On How Aryan Khan Is Similar To Shah Rukh Khan

During a rapid-fire round, Karan was asked to name one quality Aryan and Shah Rukh share and one that makes them different. He said, “They are both crazily, equally, madly, obsessively passionate about every shot in every scene. Aryan goes berserk if he doesn’t get what he wants. And the quality that differentiates him from Shah Rukh is that he’s not in front of the camera.”

Karan also spoke about Shah Rukh’s professional approach. “I feel very strongly about Shah Rukh Khan. He is my friend, mentor, brother, and my everything. He is the only person who has never talked about money with me.

He says, ‘Whatever you want, you send the paper and I’ll sign it.’ Up until now, he has never discussed money for any of the movies with me or even heard the script. I would just go and say, ‘Bhai, I am directing a movie, these are the dates, the money is whatever you say.’ He’s my family. Apart from him, every actor has just been professional.”

Karan’s Long-Standing Relationship With SRK And His Family

Karan and Shah Rukh’s friendship goes back decades. Karan worked as an assistant director and actor on his cousin Aditya Chopra’s Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995). He made his directorial debut with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), starring Shah Rukh, Kajol, and Rani Mukerji. The film was a huge hit and established Karan as a top director.

The duo continued to work together on hits like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, My Name Is Khan, and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, where Shah Rukh had a cameo. Fans and the industry have always admired their bond.

Recently, Karan appeared in Aryan’s Ba***ds of Bollywood (alongside Lakshya) Sahher Bambba, Bobby Deol, Raghav Juyal, Manoj Pahwa, Anya Singh and Mona Singh. The show became a big hit when it released and received praise from both viewers and critics. It is currently streaming on Netflix with the second season already in work.
