Javed Akhtar, in Lahore, says Pakistan ‘can’t blame’ India for bitterness while 26/11 attackers roam free; VIDEO here

Javed Akhtar: Celebrated writer and lyricist Javed Akhtar is earning widespread praises from Indians after he hit out at Pakistan in Pakistan. In his now viral speech, he spoke about India’s bitterness with the neighbouring country as 26/11 terrorists continue to roam free.

Javed Akhtar tells Pakistan ‘you can’t blame’ Indians for bitterness

Last week, Javed Akhtar had visited Lahore for a literary festival in the memory of late poet Faiz Ahmad Faiz. During the event, he also spoke about diffusing tension between the two-country, adding that the Pakistan should not blame India for its bitterness citing 26/11 terror attack in Mumbai.

“You have visited Pakistan so many times. When you go back do you tell your people that these are good people, they aren’t just bombing us but also greeting us with garlands and love?” a reporter asked Javed Akhtar during the event. Replying to him, Javed Akhtar said, “We should not blame each other. It will solve nothing. The atmosphere is tense, that should be doused. We are people from Mumbai, we have seen the attack on our city. They (attackers) did not come from Norway or Egypt. They are still roaming free in your country. So if there is anger in the Hindustani’s heart, you can’t complain.”

He further added that Indian artistes were not received with open arms in Pakistan, while Indians hosted many events to celebrate Pakistan’s artistes. “When Faiz Sahab visited, he was received like a very important visitor. It was broadcast all over. We hosted big functions of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Mehdi Hasan. You (Pakistan) never organized a function for Lata Mangeshkar?” the poet said. His answer is now winning hearts across social media platforms from Indians.

But there must be something pure in the person for God to bless them. Jai Hind @Javedakhtarjadu saab. Ghar mein ghuss ke maara (you beat them in their own backyard),” Kangana Ranaut said in a tweet.
