Javed Akhtar reacts to Kangana Ranaut’s praise over remarks on Pakistan; ‘Chaliye aage’

Javed Akhtar: Lyricist writer Javed Akhtar recently slammed Pakistan for the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. The film fraternity praised the ace lyricist who was in Lahore for a literary festival to celebrate the renowned Urdu poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz. Even Kangana Ranaut, who has been at loggerheads with Javed, praised him for his sharp remarks. However, Javed reacted to Kangana’s comment by saying he does not consider her ‘important.’

Javed was in Lahore when he spoke at the literary festival. He criticised Pakistan over terrorism and slammed the country for the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai. Kangana was among the first stars back home to praise the lyricist.

‘Don’t consider Kangana important’

The actress praised him for his sharp words against Pakistan. But it seems Javed wasn’t really impressed with her reaction, as he refused to talk about it. In a recent conversation at a TV channel, Javed was asked about Kangan’s words of praise for his remarks against the 26/11 terror attacks. The 78-year-old screenwriter ignored the question and said, “I don’t consider Kangana important, so how can she make an important remark? Forget about her. Chaliye aage (Let’s move forward)”.

In his remark on Pakistan Javed Akhtar recalled the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai and said, “We saw how Mumbai was attacked… They (the terrorists) are still roaming freely in your country.” He also said that Pakistan never invited Lata Mangeshkar for any event despite India organizing big events for Pakistani artists Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Mehdi Hasan.

Kangana praises Javed Akhtar

Kangana Ranaut took to Twitter to praise Javed Akhtar. She wrote, “Jab main Javed saab ki poetry sunti hoon toh lagta tha yeh kaise Maa Saraswati ji ki in pe itni kripa hai, lekin dekho kuch toh sachchai hoti hai insaan mein tabhi toh khudai hoti hai unke saath mein. Jai Hind. Ghar mein ghuss ke maara.. ha ha. (Whenever I listen to Javed Saab’s poetry, I feel like Goddess Saraswati has blessed him. But there must be some truth within a person for him to be blessed with divinity. Jai Hind. He spilled their truth in their own land). (sic)”

Javed Akhtar had filed a complaint against Kangana Ranaut stating that in 2020, she had defamed him on a television channel.
