Jharkhand has taken a major step toward strengthening its film and media education sector with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish the state’s first Film and Television Institute.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren attended the MoU signing ceremony at Project Bhawan in Ranchi, where the agreement was signed between the Jharkhand Film Development Corporation Ltd. (JFDCL) and the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI), Kolkata.

Describing the occasion as a historic milestone, the Chief Minister congratulated all those associated with the initiative and expressed confidence that the institute would contribute significantly to the growth of the state’s creative and entertainment industries.
The proposed institute is expected to provide professional education and training in filmmaking, television production, cinematography, editing, animation, scriptwriting, and other media-related disciplines. It is also expected to create new opportunities for aspiring filmmakers, artists, technicians, and media professionals from Jharkhand.
The collaboration between JFDCL and SRFTI aims to promote skill development, nurture local talent, and strengthen Jharkhand’s presence in India’s film and entertainment industry. The initiative is also expected to encourage film production in the state and generate employment opportunities in the creative sector.
The establishment of Jharkhand’s first Film and Television Institute marks a significant development in the state’s efforts to build a robust ecosystem for cinema, media education, and cultural promotion.
